We were asked to play this show the night before as someone we knew was having a party with a couple of local bands playing. Hot from the success of our Tunbridge Wells gig, we agreed and had to supply most of the equipment the following day. We arrived and set up, and in about half an hour we were ready to play. We kept mostly to our TW Set List, with a few changes due to technical problems, and got the crowd going straight away with Crash and Burn. The crowd itself was fairly small, but we still got a pleasantly arousing reception. Cadillac and One By One went down well again, along with Truth and Lies and Awake, but by the end of the set, problems with the amps and guitars meant we had to finish a song early. Overall, the Penge gig was mondo nifty, and a good chance for fans who missed us at Tunbridge Wells to get a taste of the Slag Munky sound. We played pretty well, compensating well for the poor sound quality, and managed to get a good response from the crowd.

Other Bands

Jew Destroyer, Brownie's side project, opened the night well with their refreshing blend of acid jazz and emotional bluegrass.

The mighty Carpet Hed played a few songs after Slag Munky. By this point however, the technical problems had worsened as everything had overheated and the guitar cut out entirely after a while. Oska was wasted and everyone gradually just wandered off.

Set List

1. Crash and Burn
2. Cadillac (Mest cover)
3. One By One
4. Again and Again
5. Is it Right
6. Truth and Lies
7. Awake

This was a great venue for a party, but not so great to play live. Despite this, is was great fun and we continued to build on our great ever growing fan base. Great.

On the left is one of the finest pictures of Brownie (ex bassist) in the Slag Munky archives, and shows him just before launching into Crash and Burn. For more great pictures of our live set, go to the pictures section.
