After a almost a 3 month break for the GCSE's, Slag Munky started to practice regularly again and started learning some of John's newly written songs. During this time, Brownie's sister managed to get us the biggest show of our lives. After less than a year of playing together, Slag Munky had secured a gig at the Mean Fiddler in London, playing on a Fresh Sounds night with 3 other bands. After Ben, the guy organising the event, came to watch us go through a few songs during a practice at Scream, we were given 175 tickets to sell in about 3 weeks. Somehow we managed to sell about 170 of them and only ended up a few pounds short. We got there at about 2 and Jodan helped us set up and get ready and were generally fucking great. We started our set at 7:00 to a sizeable crowd, and after massive introduction there was a tremendous sense of adrenalin running through both the crowd and the band. This was evident as soon as we launched into Out Of Reach, which was played with so much energy, and then straight into One By One, in which John played a blinding solo . Both of these got a great reaction from the crowd, with the front rows packed with people and a pretty crazy pit forming just behind, with Andy even getting a member of the crowd to sing along to the One By One chorus. We then played Truth and Lies which went well, the highlight being Brownie's great bass solo, and then into Crash and Burn which went at a blistering pace. We then played New Dawn for the first time ever live, and it sounded great. John's guitar sounded a bit overdriven for the intro riff, but with more practice I reckon this will be one of our strongest live numbers. Aces High came next to the delight of the crowd, and set the stage perfectly for our final song Awake, which was one of our best performances ever. We ended up playing for 30 minutes and played a highly energised set, helped by the intensity of the crowd and a great turn out form our fans.

Other Bands

We were one of 4 bands playing that night, the others being "Jodan", "The Inbreds" and "HMF".

Jodan : Jodan were amazing, with some great Lost Prophets style songs, which worked great with their two singers. They are also jolly nice fellows, helping us set up and lending us a load of equiptment. They played 8 songs, including Stub and Shallow, which can be found on their Official Site.

The Inbreds: They were the first real metal band of the night, and seemed to go down pretty well with the crowd. I think their set was probably a bit long as towards the end it began to get a bit repetative, but despite this they had some great stuff.

HMF: These guys were another metal band, but with a different sound to The Inbreds. They were great onstage and played some more good stuff, finishing the night off well.

Most of you have probably heard of the Mean Fiddler, it's a huge venue and had some great stage effects. Fresh Sounds, the company hosting the show, are the second biggest company for promoting up and coming bands in Europe, and you can check out their site here.

Check out Richy's sexy smile. There are a load of MF pics in the pictures section for you to check out.
