Slag Munky Roots:
Andy Mason the Punk RockerTM , Gianni Martinelli, Richtit Lampard and R. Metin White decided to form Slag Munky in the Autumn of 2002, soon after their formation the band had their first practice at Clarendon Square Gardens and Wes Seth Michael DouglASS Browne joined to play bass.
After playing a few pop punk covers John Martin came up with the epic "sum fin gay", which, after Andy Mason added some fine lyrics, became crowd favourite "One by One". Songwriting continued until the band had a full set of songs which they could play at their first gig at the Holy Toilet that is the Tunbridge Wells Forum, which most of the band eventually learnt how to spell.
The name "Slag Munky" originates from a random act of vandalism in which "slag monkey" was written on a wall in London. This was spotted by B.C.Richard Lampard and Snowy who thought it would be a splendid name for a band, the spelling was changed in one swift punkifying motion by RML. Slag Munky's brand of hardcore complemented this serious and thought provoking name well.
Brownie
'left' on 6th Jan 2004, when the rest of the band told him to fuck off and
bum From Grace.
Ryan Callus joined in his place shortly after.
Andrew decided to quit after his 7th and final show the band on 3rd April 2004 (John's birthday) to go be a doctor or something, unfortunately this final show never took place, leaving hundreds of SM fans in tears.
Rob worked hard to find interested parties "Dan" and "Dave F" to replace Masty, but Titch and John decided it would be better to lay the band to rest. John and Rob are currently attempting to form a band with Tom2$mile.
Talk of a final Slag Munky reunion show was never really laid to rest, and everyone's dreams were answered when it was announced that the original SM lineup would be headlining the Highbury Garage on 20th November for Nicholas James Brown's birthday celebration gig. It was super fun.
Slag Munky have never played a gig on a date without a 2 in it.
